It was a normal day at home; everyone was chilling, out of nowhere a scream which shook up the whole house “will you turn down the volume for god’s sake! Can you even hear me?? I was happily jamming to my favorite Kpop boy band which is none other than BTS. It was so loud that even I jumped at that scream, I fearfully open the door knowing the consequences and there’s my mom standing there, I quietly put my head down, listening and letting it go through the other ear, then my mom suddenly tells me “what is it that those boys have that makes you so obsessed with them, this is getting out of hand. I am challenging you right here, you have to state seven lessons that you learn from BTS or stop listening to them permanently.” That set off my mind’s gears turning, I thought to myself “Mom I am going to make you understand it in such a way that you yourself will start liking them”, while smirking.
For those of you who have never heard about or don’t know this group, their name is BTS which is Bangtan Sonyeondan which translates from Korean to English means Bulletproof Boy Scouts. These guys have a lot to teach us and I mean a lot more than just seven lessons. I guess you must’ve already figured out the reason for the challenge. Let me tell you their names “Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jung kook”. Well now that I’ve given you some of the basic information about these guys. Let’s move on, shall we?
Lesson number one that I learned from these guys is that success comes through compromising; a clear cut example for this is our leader Mr. Kim Namjoon who actually wanted to pursue his career as a solo rapper but when given the choice he gave it up to be with his group, another example for this would be Yoongi who gave up the thought of becoming a producer at Bighit Entertainment. This level of compromising is the reason why I respect these two so much.
Lesson number two is hard work and confidence the examples that I would give for these would be Jhope and Seokjin. The prime example for confidence is was and will be Kim Seokjin. Jhope is an example for hard work he was part of an underground dance troupe called Neuron and had won so many dance related awards which was the prime reason why he developed a passion towards becoming an idol.
Lesson number three is passion and dedication which as an example I would quote our Golden Maknae (youngest member) Jung kook who is the most passionate member of the group, to quote him “ Living without a passion is like being dead” which is very true because without passion, what’s the point of having a life. I can also include Jimin in this, reason being he had such a passion for music and dance which was thankfully recognized by his homeroom teacher, and his journey started there.
For Lesson number four I would say self care; these guys take care of themselves so well like physique maintenance, skincare, taking care of each other while taking care of themselves. The best example for this is definitely Kim Seokjin; he takes care of the entire group like a mother taking care of her children.
Lesson Number five would be Being Proud of Who You Are; the example for this is our Gucci King Mr. Kim Taehyung himself he is very proud of who he is, he was the one who coined the phrase “ I Purple You”. And when he was asked in an interview what he would’ve been if he weren’t an artist his reply was a strawberry farmer and he too had had a passion, he learnt to play the saxophone for three whole years.
Lesson Number six is sticking together no matter what; there was a time when they were facing so much of hate that they had thought about disbanding but they stuck together and managed to get through everything, when most boy groups disband after their big break.
Lesson Number Seven would be pretty obvious by now, there is one habit that you’ll definitely get into once you’re introduced to Kpop and that is the adorable habit of showing Finger hearts. Well we’ve almost reached the end of this challenge and if BTS ever see this article this is for you guys “내 기사를 읽어 주셔서 감사합니다, 당신의 열정을 따라 멈추지 마세요, 너희들은 우리의 어둠 속에서 빛입니다. BTS와 A.R.M.Y는 영원히 젊을 것입니다.”(Thank you for reading my article don’t stop following your passions, you guys are the light in our darkness. BTS and A.R.M.Y will be Forever Young.)

A typical scenario in a teenager’s house and reading your post brought back a flood of memories...I thought I had forgotten! The kind of lessons you learn by obsessing with a pop band,as you have listed, is quite revealing! Thanks for opening my mind to a teen’s world and definitely l have resolved to be more sympathetic and understanding😁😁
